Terms of use and listing

These terms cover using Cafeography and listing a café on it. They're written to be read, not to win arguments. If something here is unclear, email us before you pay for anything.

Using the directory

Café details change. We show where each listing's information comes from and when it was last checked, but we can't guarantee that opening hours, prices or menus are current. Check before a long trip. Links to café websites and social pages lead to sites we don't control.

Free listings

Any café with a fixed location and an address, opening hours or a public page can be listed for free, and stays listed for free. We decide what goes on a card and may edit submissions for accuracy, length and style. We list a café whether or not its owner asks us to, using public information, and remove or correct a listing when the owner asks or when we learn it has closed.

Featured pages

Featured pages (US$199 a year by default) are paid for one year at a time, after the owner approves the finished page. Prices in some countries are set in local currency on that country's owner page. There is no automatic renewal. At the end of the paid year, the page reverts to a free card unless renewed.

A featured page can use the café's own design: its colors, logo, fonts and photo shapes. By sending them, the owner confirms the café may use them and lets us show them on the café's own page and its card, nowhere else. Fonts appear only if they are free to use on the web or the café holds a web license; otherwise we use the closest free fonts. When the page ends, its design goes with it.

Paid placements are always labeled. Payment never buys the Checked mark, never changes how free listings are ordered, and never buys or removes reviews, because we don't publish reviews. We may refuse or end a paid placement that is misleading, unlawful or that misrepresents the café, and refund the unused part of the year if we do.

If we haven't published your page within 30 days of payment, you can ask for a full refund. After publication, you can cancel at any time and we refund the unused whole months.

What you send us

When you submit text, menus, offers or photos, you confirm that you have the right to share them, and you allow Cafeography to publish, edit, crop and translate them for the café's listing and pages, and to show them in previews of those pages. You keep ownership. If you ask us to remove the listing, we remove your material from the site.

Offers are set and honored by the café. We publish them as the café states them and remove them when they end.

Listing data

Base listing data comes from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database License, and from Overture Maps Foundation Places data under CDLA-Permissive-2.0. Maps use tiles from Stadia Maps and OSM France, based on OpenStreetMap data.
