La Mariscal is Quito's nightlife parish, with discotheques, bars and pubs, and Plaza Foch is the center of the area known as La Zona, the city's most bohemian corner.23 Its cafés keep pace: La Unión, the bakery on Reina Victoria, stays open until 22:00 every day, and Tres Gatos on José Tamayo until 22:00 Monday to Saturday.

El Cafecito on Luis Cordero and Friends on Wilson both close at 21:00 from Monday to Saturday.

Evenings in the Old Town and La Ronda

La Ronda, officially Calle Juan de Dios Morales, made its name in the 20th century as a street for nights out, and night-time walking tours still pass its restaurants and cafés.4 Dulcería Colonial Coffee opens at 07:00 every day, so its Saturday runs to 16 hours.

Coffee Romance, on Los Ríos (1703), closes at 21:00 every day, and most of the other Old Town cafés close by 20:00 or 20:30.

Evening shifts and Sunday nights

Some cafés split the day. Las Delicias de la Maru, a bakery on Avenida Mariscal Sucre (S9-409) in the south of the center, closes at noon and reopens 16:00–20:30, Monday to Saturday. Cassave, on Avenida Río Amazonas in La Carolina, serves until 20:30 Monday to Saturday and 20:00 on Sundays.

Sunday evenings are the hardest. Dulcería Colonial Coffee (until 22:00), Café Mosaico (23:00) and La Unión (22:00) open late every Sunday; Tres Gatos closes at 19:30, and El Cafecito shuts at 14:00. On González Suárez, Café Galletti opens until 20:00 every day.9

Late cafés in the north

In La Carolina, Saca la Resaca on Avenida República de El Salvador (35-08) closes at 22:00 Monday to Saturday and has Wi-Fi, and Bríndame on Antonio Navarro closes at 21:00 every day. In La Floresta, Homero Ortega on Isabel La Católica stays open until 22:00 on Fridays only. Cheesecake Planet Experience, also in La Carolina, serves until 20:00 from Tuesday to Saturday.

Canelazo and festival nights

During Quito's holidays, the warm drink of choice is canelazo, made with aguardiente, a sugarcane spirit.5 The Fiestas de Quito fall in early December, and the Great Parade of Mariscal is held in La Mariscal during them.6

For a hot drink without alcohol, chocolate is the usual alternative: Raymi Coffee Roaster served 70% and 100% chocolate for US$4 in September 2026, and Cafetería Modelo charged US$2.75 for a hot chocolate in 2024.78
