Mumbai's outdoor tables follow the monsoon. The India Meteorological Department counts an onset over the city within three days of 11 June as normal.1 The June-to-September season then brings a normal 2,317 mm of rain, and in July and August it falls almost without pause, with weeks of no sunshine.23

Bandra West and Andheri West share the lead for cafés with gardens, terraces or pavement tables, each with about a quarter of them, followed by Juhu and the Dadar–Matunga area. South Mumbai's options run small: a tea stall on Malabar Hill's Ridge Road and a café in Byculla.

Local tip: From October to May, Bandra's outdoor tables are most pleasant before 10:00: Bombay Brioche on 16th Road opens at 08:00 and Mokai on Chapel Road at 09:00.
