Wi-Fi cafés in Marrakech

Getting online is rarely the problem in a Moroccan café: almost every café and restaurant offers free Wi-Fi, and speeds run from acceptable to excellent in the north, slower in rural areas.1 A local SIM makes a cheap backup; in December 2024 a 30 DH SIM with a 50 DH top-up came with about 7.5 GB of data.1

Working through the afternoon on a laptop is a newer habit, and it has grown up around the specialty cafés of Guéliz.23 More than half are inside the medina walls, though, from rooftops near the souks to a café on Rue Riad Zitoun El Jedid that keeps going until 22:30.

Local tip: For a full working day, start at Pezzo in Semlalia when it opens at 08:00 and move to Kartell Kollektiv's mezzanine on Rue Halab, open until 20:00.245

Laptops in Guéliz and Semlalia

Kartell Kollektiv, on Rue Halab, has a mezzanine set aside as a workspace, a very good connection, and soy or almond milk for the coffee; Sally Kirby adds laptop charging points.23 It opens daily 09:30–20:00.4 Kirby also rates HeiBai, on a pedestrian street by the Ibrahim al Khalil Mosque on Route de Safi, as a good place for laptop work, while at Thirty5ive she saw nobody working.3

Ayaso Concept Store, at 6 Boulevard Mohammed Zerktouni, has Wi-Fi from 09:00 to 21:00. Pezzo Coffee Shop's café in Semlalia advertises free high-speed Wi-Fi and welcomes groups for meetings, daily 08:00–23:00.5 My Kawa on Rue Yves Saint Laurent and Makiyato, both in the Majorelle area, have Wi-Fi as well.

Connected tables in the medina

Mandala Society, at 159 Rue Riad Zitoun El Jedid, keeps the longest hours of the medina's Wi-Fi cafés, 09:30–22:30. Foundouk Gargaa, at 9 Rue Koutoubia, opens 10:00–19:00, and Kui-Zin on Rue Riad Laarous, Mama terrasse at 118 Derb Chentouf, Bakchich Cafe on Route Kennaria and Henna Art Cafe also have Wi-Fi.

Henna Cafe, at 93 Arset Aouzal, offers lunch, tea and henna designs from 11:00 to 20:00 with seats on the roof, and Bazaar Cafe, at 24B Derb Sidi El Yamani, has Wi-Fi to go with a rooftop that looks out over the medina.67 In the Kasbah, Café Dar Touareg on Rue Tougma has Wi-Fi.

Around the clock on Avenue Essaouira

L'empreinte, on Avenue Essaouira, is open 24 hours, with Wi-Fi and outdoor tables. mawazine, in the Résidence Bahia on Avenue El Idrissi off Route de Targa, has Wi-Fi too, and in Hivernage, News on Rue Abou Bakr Seddik offers it from 08:00 until midnight.

If a café connection drops, mobile data is the fallback. Maroc Telecom sold a 14-day eSIM with unlimited 4G for 320 DH as of May 2025, and of the three operators, with Orange and inwi, it has the most consistent quality.1

Laptop manners in Marrakech cafés

On the terraces facing Jemaa el-Fna, every table comes with an order, and a tea or a juice is enough to cover it.8 Kesh Cup in the souks has three stools at the window and takes cash only, and Simple Specialty Coffee on Rue Dar El Bacha sells mostly to take away, so neither is set up for a long session.3
