Seattle pairs its coffee with doughnuts. Top Pot, which had 17 cafés around Puget Sound in November 2023, makes its doughnuts only at its downtown Seattle and Bellevue shops and trucks them to the rest, and its recipes are used for the doughnuts in more than 7,000 Starbucks stores in the United States and Canada.1

Capitol Hill has the most bakery cafés, ahead of downtown and Green Lake and Roosevelt. Most open by 07:00 and many close by mid-afternoon, so the morning is the time to go.

Local tip: Mighty-O’s downtown shop on 2nd Avenue closes by 13:00 on weekdays; for doughnuts later in the day, General Porpoise at the Amazon Spheres on 7th Avenue serves until 18:00 on weekdays.
