Vietnamese coffee has always kept one foot on the street. Cà phê bệt, roughly "ground-level coffee", means drinking on low plastic stools or a sheet of newspaper by the pavement, and in Nha Trang cafés spill onto the sidewalk, where the coffee is sipped slowly.12
Sitting outside here trades shade for breeze. The city logs more than 2,500 hours of sunshine a year, and outdoor seats range from a rooftop on Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai to a café on 23 Tháng 10 street in Phước Tân.3
Local tip: In October and November, pick a café with an indoor room as well, such as Cafe Dai Viet or Nora Coffee, and save the rooftop for the dry months from January to August.
Where these cafés are: Trần Phú beachfront & Hùng Vương (4), Vĩnh Hải & Hòn Chồng (3), Phước Tân & Phước Tiến (3), Vĩnh Nguyên & the south (1).
Nothing matches those filters here. See all cafés in Nha Trang.
The beachfront district has the most of them: Mây Rooftop Coffee at 64 Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, open 24 hours; Egg Coffee cafe at 67 Trịnh Phong, open 06:30–22:00; and RED GATE BAKERY CAFÉ at 120/3 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, open 08:00–15:30 except Mondays, with an indoor room as well.
Phước Tân has Cafe Dai Viet at 52 23 Tháng 10 and SINH TỐ CÔ TƯ, both with indoor seating too. In Vĩnh Hải and Hòn Chồng, Cô tiên lữ quán sits at 2 Cô Tiên, and Nora Coffee pairs its outdoor tables with an air-conditioned room. In the south, H79 Coffee & Tea at 36A Bửu Đóa serves from 06:00 to 23:00.
From early morning to late at night, Vietnamese sidewalks turn into open-air living rooms.2 The coffee in the glass is usually robusta from the Central Highlands provinces of Đắk Lắk and Gia Lai, dark-roasted, often with butter or cocoa, and dripped through a phin (a small metal filter) by gravity rather than pressure.2
Coffee here is treated as a slow ritual rather than a quick morning fix.2 The iced version comes over crushed ice with a long spoon for stirring, which suits a table in the sun.2
The main beach runs for about 6 km beside a promenade of walking paths, gardens and monuments.4 A table facing it costs more: as of 2026, Sailing Club at 74 Trần Phú charges 85,000₫ to 180,000₫ a drink, against 15,000₫ to 50,000₫ at Alpaca Homestyle, an inland café at 1B Nguyễn Thiện Thuật.5 On the sand itself, vendors walk the beach selling fruit and steamed seafood.4
North of the center, the café inside the Hòn Chồng tourist area on Phạm Văn Đồng opens 06:00–22:00, charges 10,000₫ to 33,000₫ as of 2026, and is usually busiest around 10:00.5
Rain is the real enemy of an outdoor table. Nha Trang's wet season runs from September to December: October averages 312.3 mm and November 381.6 mm, against less than 82 mm in every month from January to August.3
During the monsoon, from October to mid-December, sea winds can be strong and evenings fairly chilly.4 In October 2025, waves of about two meters led to several rescues off the city, and warning signs went up along the shoreline.6
