Sla Kram, north of the center, has the most cafés with outdoor seating, closely followed by Kandal Village, with smaller numbers in Wat Bo, Taphul and the streets off Sala Kamreuk Road. The tables come into their own from November to March, when the weather is cooler and windier and visitor numbers peak.1

Rain decides the rest of the year. The wet season runs from May to October and brings most of the town's roughly 1,406 mm of annual rain.2 September is the wettest month, at about 288 mm, while January sees under 4 mm.3

Local tip: From May to October, choose a café with an indoor room as well as outdoor tables, such as The Bean Embassy or The 1961, so a downpour does not end the visit.

Where these cafés are: Sla Kram & Charles de Gaulle (7), Kandal Village (5), Wat Bo (3), Sala Kamreuk (2), Taphul & Night Market (2), Old Market & Pub Street (1).

East of the river and Chocolate Road

Along the river

The Siem Reap River banks were part of a US$150 million program, launched in 2020, that also covered 38 roads and an upgrade of about 9 km of the river, and a green riverside path starts by the Hard Rock Cafe.63

Tang Mouy Coffee, a roaster on 7 Makara Street by the river, has a few outdoor seats next to an air-conditioned room.5 In the center, CAFE Roly Poly on Wat Damnak Road and Mocha & Krem and Wat Else Café on Street 53 add more tables outside. Even in the dry season, daytime highs run from 31°C to 36°C, so morning is the time for a seat in the sun.3
