In Bogotá, specialty coffee usually means a roaster with a café attached. Colo Coffee roasts by the entrance of its Usaquén shop, and Café Cultor's house on Calle 70A has a roasting area where its head roaster works.1 Azahar roasts at its own facility in Quindío, near Salento, and serves as much of that coffee in Colombia as it can.2

The beans come from across the country, and bags and menus name the department, sometimes down to the municipality or the Indigenous reserve. Huila, Nariño, Cauca and Tolima are common, and Santander and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta also appear.34 La Candelaria & Centro has the most specialty cafés, with Quinta Camacho & Zona G and Salitre & Engativá next.

Local tip: Walk Calle 70A from Libertario at #5-37 to Casa Café Cultor at #9-44: two roasters, about four blocks apart, with different regions on their menus.

Where these cafés are: La Candelaria & Centro (4), Quinta Camacho & Zona G (3), Salitre & Engativá (3), Chapinero (2), Zona T & El Retiro (2), Teusaquillo (2), Usaquén (2), Parque 93 & Chicó (1), Barrios Unidos (1).

Reading the origin on a Bogotá menu

Café Cultor names its coffees after seven producing regions: Huila, Tolima, Nariño, Cauca, Santander, the Serranía del Perijá and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It says it works with more than 10,000 growers through micro-regional hubs.3 Tropicália's seasonal coffee in October 2026 came from the Inga Indigenous reserve in Aponte, Nariño, a honey-process lot that the roaster says keeps the coffee's sweetness while protecting the territory's water.4

Arte y Pasión, at Calle 10 #8-87 in La Candelaria, hangs a map of origins on the wall and prints tasting notes for each region on the menu.2 Azahar publishes how much above the market price it pays the farmers it buys from.1

The same regions turn up in competition. In Coffee Master 2025, the winning drink in Bogotá used cold brew from Pitalito, Huila, and the winner in the surrounding Sabana, the plateau around the city, an espresso from Inzá, Cauca.7

What a cup and a bag cost in 2026

A 2026 guide by Secta Cafetera puts a hand-brewed filter coffee in Bogotá at COP 8,000–15,000 depending on the bean, with rarer varieties such as Geisha above that.6 During Coffee Master 2026, which ran August 5–17 across more than 50 specialty cafés in Bogotá and the Sabana, every competition drink cost COP 15,000.7

Beans to take home cost more than the cup suggests. In October 2026, a 340 g bag of Tropicália's Nariño coffee sold for COP 55,000 and a 340 g bag of Azahar's Huila special edition for COP 61,500. At Café Cultor, the Nariño Inga Mystique was COP 55,600 and the Mandarina Queen Geisha COP 165,000.345

Where Bogotá's specialty cafés cluster

Calle 70A, on the edge of Quinta Camacho and Zona G, has the tightest cluster: Libertario Coffee Roasters at #5-37, Casa Café Cultor at #9-44 and Bourbon Coffee Roasters on the same street. Tropicália opened at Calle 81A #8-23 in late 2021, won an SCA coffee design award in 2022 and has since added a shop on Calle 69A.1

Downtown, Contraste Coffee Lab at Calle 16 #4-26 opens weekdays at 07:00, and Divino Cafe Especial at Carrera 2 #12D-24 opens at 08:00 every day. In Teusaquillo, Bogotá Coffee Roasters at Calle 43 #19-30 brews by AeroPress, siphon and Chemex as well as espresso.2 In Chapinero, Café Mundano opens weekdays 07:00–20:00, and a barista can make a Chemex at your table.2

Tastings, competitions and the Corferias fair

Amor Perfecto roasts in Bogotá every week and runs a coffee academy; Secta Cafetera's pick there is the Chiroso variety, brewed in a V60.6 Coffee Master closed its 2026 edition on August 17 at Teatro Libre with a free awards night and an open tasting.7

The year's biggest coffee date is Cafés de Colombia Expo at Corferias. The 2026 fair ran October 15–18 with 180 exhibitors, a specialty coffee auction and national championships for filter brewing and for roasting.8
