At a Czech snídaně (breakfast) the bread is usually rohlík (a plain roll), žemle (a bun) or houska (a braided roll), and bublanina, a sponge cake, is most often served in the morning.1 Café breakfasts and weekend brunch are the newer layer, and in Prague they can run long: Myšák on Vodičkova serves breakfast until 17:00.2
Vinohrady has the most cafés serving breakfast or brunch, ahead of Staré Město, with Nové Město, Holešovice & Letná and Nusle & Vyšehrad close behind. Two streets have brunch cafés close together: Korunní in Vinohrady and Křižíkova in Karlín.
Local tip: Café Jen on Kodaňská takes no reservations, so on weekends aim for its 08:30 opening.4
