Outdoor tables in Tbilisi come in three kinds: pavement terraces on the renovated streets, courtyards behind the old facades, and gardens in the parks. They matter to smokers too, since Georgia's 2018 ban on smoking in public places left open verandas and terraces alone.1
Vake has the most cafés with outdoor seating, followed by Old Tbilisi & Sololaki, Rustaveli & Mtatsminda and Marjanishvili & Chugureti. The weather decides the rest: May is the wettest month and January the driest, and the mountains around the city often hold clouds over it in spring and autumn.2
Local tip: In winter, look for heated outdoor seats, such as Mova Maisi's greenhouse near Rustaveli metro or the terrace at Stamba Bakery in Vera.5

The courtyard houses of the old districts were split into apartments in Soviet times, when families of many nationalities moved in, and their big balconies became places to hang laundry and meet the neighbors.3 A few cafés now open onto them. CO:CO Coffee Collective, in a former residential building on Gudiashvili Square since April 2026, has a balcony and a courtyard.4
Near Rustaveli metro, Mova Maisi on a dead-end lane off Mikheil Zandukeli Street opens its garden courtyard in spring and autumn and moves guests into a heated greenhouse in winter.5 TBC Bank's cafeteria on Kote Marjanishvili Street also has a small courtyard.5
In the old town, Matassé 1822 on Vertskhli Street puts its seats on the pavement, and Baba on Machabeli Street has a bench outside.5 Coffeester on Atoneli Street has two outdoor tables.5 In Chugureti, Anxious & Tired on Mikheil Tsinamdzghvrishvili Street sets tables outside from 09:00 to 21:00, and Asters on Kote Marjanishvili Street from 09:00 to 20:00.
Several terraces stay busy late. Stricha on Anton Purtseladze Street and Vanilla House on Pkhovi Street serve outdoors until 23:00, Radiocafe on Atoneli until midnight, and the Rustaveli café on the avenue until 02:00. In Vake, The Little on Chavchavadze Avenue and Walkers stay open until 23:00, and Intelligentsia until midnight.
Vake Park, with its fountains, red-sand paths and open-air cinema, has cafés and restaurants inside it.6 At Saarbrücken Square, Puri Guliani pairs outdoor tables with indoor benches that look over the river, and it is the better of its two branches for working.5
Hello Breakfast in Vera, Coffee Line in Avlabari and Kombinat on Pekini Avenue all have outdoor tables from 08:00. In Saburtalo, Lime on Bakhtrioni Street and Salty on Platon Ioseliani Street set tables outside, and in Avlabari, Living & Jagannath on Samreklo Street keeps its outdoor tables until midnight.
Summer temperatures in Tbilisi mostly run between 20 and 32 °C, and the record, 42.0 °C, was set on 17 July 1882.2 In winter the range is about −1 to 7 °C.2
For cold days, Stamba Bakery in Vera has a heated terrace.5 Udabno Shop, also in Vera, has a few tables outside and serves coffee with almond milk made in-house.4

Yes. Georgia's ban on smoking in public places, in force since 1 May 2018, covers the inside of cafés, bars, restaurants and hotels in Tbilisi, but open verandas and terraces were exempted.
