Irish specialty coffee grew up in the 2000s and now rests on a large roasting trade: by 2025 Ireland had more than 200 independent coffee roasters.1 Many of the Dublin ones pour their beans at their own counters, so the bag on the shelf and the shot in the cup often come from the same company.

The older names set the pace. Fixx Coffee was founded in 2007, and Cloud Picker, set up in 2013, runs a café on Pearse Street, a roastery and factory shop in Crumlin and three franchised cafés at Dublin Airport.1 Full Circle, an Irish roastery set up in 2014, supplies the single-origin espresso at Shoe Lane on Tara Street.2

Local tip: Take your own cup to Shoe Lane on Tara Street, where it took €0.20 off a coffee in 2026.4

Roasters with their own counters

Several roasters pour at their own counters, among them Craft Coffee Roasters on Merchant's Quay, Full Circle at 3 Talbot Place and 2 Grantham Place, Creed on Rathmines Road Lower and Imbibe in Dolphin's Barn. Farmhand Coffee's own counter is at 153 Capel Street.

Farmhand roasts on Capel Street, in what was Brother Hubbard's kitchen until 2018, when the café's owners turned it into a roastery with their head barista.3

What a flat white costs

The same 8oz cup varies by more than a euro across the city. Between August and October 2026, a regular flat white cost €3.30 at Boom Coffee on Francis Street, €3.60 at Creed on Rathmines Road Lower, €3.80 at Brew Lab on Redmond's Hill, €4.30 at Shoe Lane and €4.40 at Clement & Pekoe.4

Oat milk added €0.50 at both Brew Lab and Shoe Lane, and Shoe Lane took €0.20 off for your own cup.4

Where the specialty bars cluster

The Liberties has the most specialty roasters' counters: Craft Coffee Roasters, Courts Coffee Shop, Imbibe and Roasted and Baked at Heuston South Quarter. In the Docklands, look for Grindstone and Creed Coffee Roasters. Further south, Creed also pours on Rathmines Road Lower. Coffee Laboratory is at 93 Baggot Street Lower, and Brew Lab Specialty Coffee is on Redmond's Hill. Clement & Pekoe is on William Street South, and Cloud Picker's café is at 42 Pearse Street.

The earliest start is at Shoe Lane Coffee on Tara Street, 06:30 on weekdays. Courts Coffee Shop on Merchant's Quay opens at 07:00, as does Roasted Bean Coffee Company on Talbot Street north of the river, and Boom Coffee on Francis Street starts at 07:30. Closing times run from 15:00 at Grindstone and Cloud Picker to 18:30 at Shoe Lane.

Pour-over and rotating roasters

For filter coffee, Brew Lab on Redmond's Hill was opened in February 2023 by the barista champions Arvin and Renata Khedun, with a competition-style pour-over area where you sit on high seats and watch.5

Some bars rotate beans instead of roasting. Vice Coffee on Middle Abbey Street has poured coffee from Friedhats, Roundhill, Manhattan and Bailies, and the Fumbally's bar runs a Victoria Arduino Black Eagle with batch brewers and a Mahlkönig EK43 grinder.5
