Not every Valencia café welcomes laptops. In 2024 some posted notices banning remote work at peak hours, given as 08:30 to 12:30, and one cut its Wi-Fi to stop customers staying for hours. The owner of a small café said every table is needed between 10:00 and 11:30. Other Spanish cafés have taken a middle course, setting aside an area for remote work and keeping the remaining tables for regulars.1

Cafés with Wi-Fi are spread across the city rather than packed into one quarter. Ciutat Vella has the most, and Extramurs, the Cabanyal, Campanar and Pla del Real tie behind it.

Local tip: Ask before opening a laptop in the morning: some Valencia cafés ban remote work from 08:30 to 12:30, when they need every table.1
