烘焙 (hōngbèi) means both baking and roasting, so a 烘焙咖啡館 can be a café that bakes or one that roasts its beans; read the rest of the sign for 麵包 (miànbāo, bread), 甜點 (tiándiǎn, desserts) or 手撕包 (shǒusībāo, pull-apart bread).

Jiu Zhen Nan and the wedding-cake street
Jiu Zhen Nan (舊振南) traces itself to 1890, when the Li family began making confectionery in Tainan.3 In 1920 a baker known as 阿祥師 opened 振南餅舖 at Dagou Ding (大溝頂) in Yancheng, the company's first Kaohsiung shop. It moved to Xinxing Street in 1940, and in 1985 opened a flagship three storefronts wide on Zhongzheng Road, on the city's 喜餅 (xǐbǐng, wedding-cake) street.3
Its range includes pineapple cakes (鳳梨酥), mung-bean pastries (綠豆椪) and other 漢餅 (hànbǐng, Han-style pastries), and the company now has about 20 outlets around Taiwan.3 Its first department-store counter opened in 1996, at the Chongguang Department Store.3
The bakery-café chains
The bakery-café chain 85°C was founded by Wu Cheng-hsueh; its first shop opened in July 2004 in what is now New Taipei. The name is the temperature he considered best for serving coffee.4 Its signature sea-salt coffee is a sweetened iced americano under sea-salt whipped cream, and it has about 400 shops in Taiwan.4 It sells coffee, tea and cakes and grows through franchising.4
