When to sit outside in Đà Lạt

Dry weather runs from December to March, with between two and six rainy days a month; from May to October the count rises to 20 to 24, and September brings about 283 mm.1 Mornings and evenings are the cool ends of the day, with mean lows of 11.7°C in January and 16.4°C in June, so garden seats at 07:00 call for a sweater.1

Late November and early December add color. VnExpress described the dã quỳ (wild sunflowers) blooming once a year at that time, on hillsides, along the fences of old villas and in garden corners, as the sun returns after the misty months.2

Cloud hunting at dawn

Săn mây (cloud hunting) means catching the sea of cloud that fills Đà Lạt's valleys at first light. A photographer told VnExpress in 2022 that the best light comes between 05:00 and 07:00, that the cloud season peaks from about June to August, and that guests staying downtown should leave by 04:00–04:15 to reach his spot at Cầu Gỗ, nearly 30 km from the center.3

Garden cafés start later than that. InnoKafe and Kien Coffee in the north open first, at 06:00, and both stay open until 22:00.

Where Đà Lạt's garden and terrace cafés are

In the north, The Cloud Forest at 144 Vòng Lâm Viên opens 07:30–17:00 and In The Pines Homestay & Coffee is at 19 Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh. Lá Thì Thầm, a bakery café, runs 08:00–20:00, and Người thương ơi coffee in hẻm (alley) 18 Tô Hiệu stays open 08:00–22:00.

Tuyền Lâm Lake lies about 7 km from the center along the road to Prenn Pass; it covers about 320 ha and was created in 1987, when a dam was built across the Suối Tía stream.4 On that side of town, Đợi ngày hoa nở on Mimosa opens 08:00–17:00, Ngõ hơi hẹp on Khe Sanh 08:00–18:00, and The Seen House is at 18 Tuyền Lâm.

Closer in, Kyoudai Coffee at 427/7 Phan Đình Phùng, Noir Café & Tea at 57 Ngô Thì Sy (07:30–21:30) and bình thường at 2/5 Phạm Ngũ Lão all have outdoor tables. Bình thường keeps short hours, Tuesday to Sunday 08:00–16:00.

What a view costs in Đà Lạt

Scenic cafés price the view into the drinks. In August 2025, Báo Văn Hóa reported on a receipt from a view café in Cam Ly ward that drew criticism online: eight drinks for 870,000₫, the cheapest 90,000₫ and the dearest 120,000₫. The customer compared a 120,000₫ milk tea with about 70,000₫ in Hanoi or Saigon, while one commenter argued that this was the usual floor for scenic check-in cafés.5

For a sunset on a terrace, choose a café that stays open: Onion Coffee and Pastry at 278 Phù Đổng Thiên Vương and 1thev Coffee at 103 Hoàng Hoa Thám both close at 22:00.
