Wi-Fi is easy to find in Hội An's cafés, and the connections behind it are fast. In Ookla's Speedtest Global Index for July 2026, Vietnam ranked seventh in the world for fixed broadband, with a median download speed of 307.11 Mbps, and tenth for mobile at 205.58 Mbps.1 For a working day, the harder questions are the seat, the power socket and the heat.

Most cafés with Wi-Fi are in the Old Town and the town around it, in about equal numbers; the rice fields, the beaches and An Hội have far fewer.

Local tip: For a full day online, start at a café with air-conditioning, Cargo Club or SnapStay, and carry a local SIM as backup: Vietnam's median mobile download was 205.58 Mbps in July 2026.

Where these cafés are: Around town (18), Old Town (17), Rice fields & villages (6), An Bàng & Cửa Đại (3), An Hội (2).

How fast café Wi-Fi in Hội An is

The Ookla figures are national medians, and a café router shared by a full room will do worse than a home line. Because Vietnam's median mobile speed is now above 200 Mbps, a local SIM makes a realistic backup for a video call when the café network slows.1

To ask for the password, say "Mật khẩu wifi là gì?" ("What is the Wi-Fi password?").

Air-conditioning and the Hội An heat

From May to August average highs climb to 33–34°C and the air is humid; February to April, at 26–31°C, is the season when an open-sided café is comfortable all day.2 Cargo Club on Nguyễn Thái Học and SnapStay Hoi An on Thái Phiên also have air-conditioning.

Cargo Club Cafe & Restaurant at 107–109 Nguyễn Thái Học in the Old Town is open 10:00–22:00 and takes cards. SnapStay Hoi An at 16 Thái Phiên, north of the center, is open 07:00–21:30 and does takeaway. Both also have Wi-Fi and outdoor seats.

Where to work: Old Town, town, beach or fields

In the Old Town, The Espresso Station at 28/2 Trần Hưng Đạo (07:30–17:00) pours specialty coffee, and Tiệm bánh Meraki, a bakery at 49/9 on the same street, runs 08:00–21:00. The lanes are closed to motorbikes from 09:00 to 11:00 and 15:00 to 22:00, which keeps the street noise down.3

In town, Bao's coffee place and Bonte café on Lê Hồng Phong open at 06:00, and Lapin Coffee House, Vintage Taste Deli Cafe and KaTê café stay open until 22:00. Near the sea, Sound of Silence (07:00–19:00) and Mate Restaurant and Coffee (08:30–21:30) have Wi-Fi, and in the rice fields Nghé Coffee is open 08:00–20:00.

For a late-night or pre-dawn call, Cafe Thiện Trung at 84 Trần Hưng Đạo and The Curve Cafe at 98 on the same street are open 24 hours, as is 11 coffee house at 17 Nguyễn Phúc Chu in An Hội; all three have Wi-Fi.

Paying, prices and the wet season

Small cafés mostly expect cash or payment by bank-transfer QR. Cargo Club, Phin Coffee Restaurant and Yesh! take cards. A cappuccino in the Old Town cost 60,000–65,000₫ as of late 2025.4

Plan around the wet season, which runs from September into January with floods peaking in October and November.2 In late October 2025 one Old Town shopkeeper measured floodwater close to 2 m deep, and vendors at Hội An market reported losses of 60–80 percent.5
