Saigon's fixed-line internet is among the fastest of any city. Ookla's Speedtest Global Index for August 2026 placed Ho Chi Minh City 14th worldwide for fixed broadband, with a median download of 298.38 Mbps, and 54th for mobile, at 175.91 Mbps.1 A café connection shared by a full room will be slower than that, and mobile data is the fallback.

District 1 has the most cafés with Wi-Fi, well ahead of Phú Nhuận, Tân Bình and Thảo Điền, and the rest spread out from Đa Kao, District 3 and Bình Thạnh to Gò Vấp and Tân Phú.

Local tip: In the rainy season, settle into a work café before 15:00 and pick one with an air-conditioned room; the afternoon storm usually passes within an hour, and you won't have to ride through it.

Where these cafés are: District 1 (39), Phú Nhuận (16), Tân Bình (15), Thảo Điền & District 2 (15), Đa Kao & Tân Định (14), District 3 (14), Bình Thạnh (14), District 7 (13), Gò Vấp (13), District 10 (12), Tân Phú & Bình Tân (9), Thủ Đức (8), District 5 & Chợ Lớn (6), District 8 (4), District 4 (3).

Cafés that sell seat time

Saigon has a café format built around the laptop. In December 2023 Znews described cà phê chạy deadline (deadline cafés), where 25,000–60,000₫ bought four hours with water included, plus outlets, printers, laptop cooling pads and blankets.2 Their customers were office workers, remote workers and students looking for quiet.2 Library-style rooms go further: phone calls are banned, and noise can get you asked to leave.2

The same report covered capsule cafés, with small rooms holding a bed, a desk, a lamp and outlets, which usually needed booking at weekends.2 One of them, Chidori - Coffee in Bed, charged 100,000₫ for two hours including a drink as of 2023.2 Its branch at 06 Cầu Kiệu Hoa Cau in Phú Nhuận is open 08:30–23:00.

Where Saigon's Wi-Fi cafés are

In District 1, Cà Phê Bookworm at 4 Đỗ Quang Đẩu runs 07:00–23:30 and Cà Phê Người Sài Gòn at 9 Thái Văn Lung 08:00–23:00, while Kalf Coffee & Tea at 178/15B Pasteur keeps office hours, 07:00–16:00, Monday to Saturday. Cà Phê Và Board Game is at 21 Trịnh Văn Cấn.

Phú Nhuận has Tĩnh Books and Coffee, an air-conditioned book café in an alley at 21 Hẻm 182 Lê Văn Sỹ, open 08:00–22:00, and Kofuku Coffee at 1162 Trường Sa. District 3 has Cà Phê Language Exchange and Oromia Coffee & Lounge at 193 Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa, both until 22:00. In Thảo Điền, Be Nuts and TAO Banh Mi Cafe are both on Xuân Thủy. Most of the all-night cafés have Wi-Fi as well.

Heat, storms and a long work session

For much of the year the air-conditioning matters as much as the password. Mean daily highs at Tân Sơn Nhất airport range from 31.6 °C in December to 34.9 °C in May.3 Air-conditioned rooms with Wi-Fi include Rùa Kafé at 109 Bầu Cát 8 in Tân Bình, Missing Garden at 221/9 Lê Văn Sỹ in District 3 and W Station at 267G Trịnh Đình Trọng in Tân Phú, which never closes.

From May to November the rain sets the schedule. A Vietnam Tourism guide puts the usual downpour at around 15:00 or 16:00, lasting 30 to 60 minutes, and recommends a coffee shop as the place to wait it out.4 Streets flood quickly where drainage is poor, so a laptop bag that survives a short ride in the rain is worth having.4

Plugs, power and who you'll sit with

Vietnam runs on 230 V at 50 Hz. Most sockets are hybrids that take both flat US-style pins and round European ones, so many chargers fit without an adapter.5 In a deadline café, the outlet is part of what you pay for.2

The crowd at a work café is young. Every Half, the roaster with branches across the city, describes its regulars as mostly students and young professionals in their 20s and early 30s.6 In the quiet-room format, the house rule is library manners: Znews put it as keeping order as you would in a library.2
