Wi-Fi cafés in Huế

Wi-Fi is widely available in Huế, as it is in most of Vietnam.1 Wi-Fi cafés run from family-run coffee shops inside the Citadel to alley cafés off Nguyễn Công Trứ. Going out for coffee is a regular habit: in a 2024 consumer survey by iPOS.vn, about 43% of Huế respondents said they go one or two times a week, 32% three or four times, and 17% every day.4

Much of the daytime crowd is students. Huế University counted 37,645 full-time undergraduates in 2023, the year about 11,500 new students enrolled.2 Several of its member schools are south of the river: Medicine and Pharmacy at 6 Ngô Quyền, Education at 34 Lê Lợi, Sciences at 77 Nguyễn Huệ, and Economics, Law and Foreign Languages in An Cựu.3

Local tip: To stay through lunch, pick a café with continuous hours, such as Hangout Coffee & Bar at 48 Nguyễn Tri Phương (06:45–23:45); some Huế cafés, Cafe Muối on Nguyễn Lương Bằng among them, close from late morning to mid-afternoon.

Phạm Ngũ Lão and the alleys off Nguyễn Công Trứ

Phạm Ngũ Lão & Phú Hội has the most Wi-Fi cafés, with Lê Lợi & Vĩnh Ninh second; between them they hold more than half. In Phú Hội many addresses run deep into a kiệt (alley): Machine Café is at 7 Kiệt 64 Nguyễn Công Trứ, Mọt at number 13 in the same alley, and OLD MONEY cafe & cocktails at 26/64, open 07:00–00:00. Kem's Coffee & Breakfast is in Kiệt 56.

On the main streets, Gạo Coffee at 73 Nguyễn Công Trứ keeps 07:00–22:00 and Hangout Coffee & Bar at 48 Nguyễn Tri Phương runs 06:45–23:45. HÚE T.Roaster, a specialty roaster at 10 Bến Nghé, opens 07:00–22:30 and has outdoor seats and takeaway. Trốn cafe at 21 Lê Quý Đôn stays open until midnight, and đa:mê is at 34 Chu Văn An.

Near the campuses on Lê Lợi, Ngô Quyền and Nguyễn Huệ

The streets around the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the University of Education have their own cluster. On Ngô Quyền, 3S House is down the alley at 2/48 and Cà phê It's my life is at number 41. Cà phê Khởi nghiệp Huế, whose name means "startup café", is at 20 Lê Lợi and opens 06:00–22:00. Lam Cafè is at 100 Nguyễn Huệ, the street of the University of Sciences.3

Hai Bà Trưng adds three more: Nice's Coffee Shop at number 27 (06:00–22:00), Light Room Kafe at 16L (06:30–22:00), and Hallo Bubble Tea Coffee, which opens 09:00–21:00. Lago Coffee House is at 10 Lê Hồng Phong and Café Vivu at 77 Phan Đình Phùng.

Inside the Citadel and in An Cựu

Inside the Citadel walls, two Wi-Fi cafés share Đặng Thái Thân: Afternoon Coffee at number 44, which has outdoor seating, and Cà phê muối at 142, the Citadel branch of the original cà phê muối (salt coffee) house on Nguyễn Lương Bằng.5 Di Nhiên Trà Thất, a trà thất (tea room) at 3 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, has air-conditioning and opens 09:00–21:00. Lico Tea at 01 Nguyễn Trãi is open 24 hours, and Bee Coffee at 137 Mai Thúc Loan runs 06:00–22:30.

An Cựu has fewer Wi-Fi cafés, though it is home to the Economics campus at 99 Hồ Đắc Di and the University of Foreign Languages at 57 Nguyễn Khoa Chiêm.3 Nâu Coffee Shop at 103 Đặng Huy Trứ and 43 House Coffee at number 43 on the same street both open 06:00–22:00. Cafe Nhiên is at 188 Phan Chu Trinh and T.U.I Cafe at 9 Chế Lan Viên.

Chains, lunch breaks and the wet months

For years Huế was seen as the exception in Vietnam's café trade, a city loyal to its neighborhood coffee shops. That has changed: Phê La opened its first Huế store in mid-November 2025, facing Tràng Tiền bridge, Katinat is on Lê Lợi, and Highlands has opened its 13th store in the city.4 One resident quoted by Znews in 2026 found the chain cafés convenient for working or meeting friends but still preferred local cafés, because they are quieter.4

Check the hours before settling in for a long stay. Many cafés in Huế close in the middle of the day and reopen in the late afternoon.1 Cafe Muối at 10 Nguyễn Lương Bằng, for one, keeps 06:30–11:15 and 14:00–22:00. The weather matters too: October averages 772.7 mm of rain and November 641.7 mm, each spread over about 21 rainy days.6
