Porto's evenings run to a timetable: the metro normally operates from 06:00 to 01:00.1 Inside that window, a café open until 22:00 or later is not hard to find. After midnight the choice narrows to a few counters near the university and the stations.

The longest night of the year is São João, on 23–24 June. In 2026 the Metro do Porto ran double trains from 20:00 until 06:00 the next morning on every line except the violet Line E, and stopped service across the Luiz I bridge from 23:30 to 01:00 for the fireworks.2

Local tip: The metro stops at 01:00, so after midnight choose a late café you can walk back from. On São João night, trains run until 06:00.
